Who this policy covers

This policy describes information handled through the MoviHero website. “MoviHero,” “we,” and “us” refer to the service operating this site. It does not cover independent streaming services, retailers, or other websites you visit through our links.

For questions or requests about your information, use our contact form and select “Privacy request.”

Information we handle

• Messages you send. The contact form collects your name, email address, chosen topic, message, and submission time. Please do not include passwords, payment details, identification documents, or other sensitive information.
• Saved choices. Watch, Maybe, Skip, and swipe-related choices are stored in your browser so the relevant features can remember them. When you use those features, movie identifiers may be sent to our server to retrieve the corresponding movie information. Browser storage is specific to the browser and device you use.
• Audience votes. If you submit an audience verdict or related answers, we store those selections with the movie identifier and a voter identifier used to recognize your voting state. Published audience results are presented in aggregate.
• Technical information. Requests to the site can include an IP address, browser or device information, requested URLs, referring pages, timestamps, and diagnostic information. Our hosting and analytics providers process information needed to deliver, measure, and protect the service.
• Abuse prevention. Contact submissions use protected hashes derived from an email address and, where available, an IP address to apply submission limits. These rate-limit records are separate from the message itself.

How we use information

We use information to provide requested features, display your saved selections and voting state, respond to messages, investigate corrections, measure site use, maintain security, prevent spam, and meet applicable legal obligations.

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, the basis depends on the activity: providing a service you request, legitimate interests in operating and securing the site, consent where required for optional processing, or a legal obligation. You may raise an objection or withdraw consent where those rights apply.

Browser storage and cookies

MoviHero uses browser storage to remember movie choices and identifiers or cookies needed for features such as audience voting and authorized admin access. Clearing site data can remove saved choices and prevent the site from recognizing an earlier voting state; it does not itself delete information already stored on our servers.

You can manage cookies and site storage in your browser. Blocking them may prevent some features from working. A browser setting does not automatically change an external provider’s separate records.

Vercel Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand visits and page use, including information such as visited pages, referrals, approximate location, and browser or device categories.

Vercel describes Web Analytics as cookie-free and uses a request-derived hash rather than a persistent cross-site tracking identifier. Its visitor session identifier is discarded after 24 hours; this is not a promise that all analytics reports or hosting logs are deleted after 24 hours. Providers and external links

We use Vercel for hosting and related services, including public movie-content storage, and Neon for database services. Contact messages are kept in the private database inbox, rather than in public movie snapshots. Service providers process information needed to perform their functions.

We participate in Amazon Associates and Sovrn Commerce. Following an affiliate link can send technical and referral information to the network or destination. Those parties may use cookies or similar technologies for attribution, fraud prevention, and their own services, depending on the integration and your choices. Read our Affiliate Disclosure, Amazon’s Privacy Notice, and Sovrn’s Privacy Policy. Sovrn also provides information and opt-out controls in its Privacy Center.

When external trailers or other remotely hosted media load, the relevant provider can receive technical information from your browser. Its privacy policy governs that processing. Choosing an external link or playing media can take you outside MoviHero’s systems.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and security, or in connection with a transfer of the service subject to applicable protections. Providers may process information in countries other than your own.

Retention and security

Browser-stored choices remain until you remove them, clear site data, or your browser removes them. Contact messages remain in our private inbox until deleted; you can request deletion through the contact form. Audience voting records remain unless removed. Technical logs and analytics follow the relevant service settings and provider retention practices.

Expired contact rate-limit records are eligible for cleanup during later submissions, so expiration does not mean immediate deletion. Information may need to be retained for security, legal obligations, or resolving a dispute.

We use measures such as access controls and protected connections to safeguard information. No internet service or storage system can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and requests

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, receive a copy of, restrict, or object to processing of your personal information, withdraw consent, or complain to your local data-protection authority. Applicable exceptions may limit a request.

Use the contact form with the topic “Privacy request” and describe what you need. We may ask for enough information to confirm that a request concerns your records. Please do not send sensitive documents unless a secure verification method has been agreed. Browser-only data or anonymous identifiers may not be linkable to your email address.

You can avoid affiliate tracking associated with a click by visiting the provider directly instead of following our affiliate link. Provider-specific privacy controls apply separately.

Children’s information

MoviHero is a general-audience movie-discovery service. Our contact form is not intended to collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent personal information to us, contact us so we can review and address it. Film descriptions and trailers may contain mature themes; check official age ratings before viewing.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. New analytics or advertising features will be assessed before activation, with notices and consent controls provided where required. This policy does not itself enable optional tracking or constitute consent to it.
